About Beautiful Day
What is Beautiful Day?
Beautiful Day is a network of churches working in collaboration with businesses, organizations, schools, media, entertainment, government, and health care to unleash compassion into the local community in such a creative and innovative way that it is felt by everyone and leaves an impact unparalleled by any group… any where… at any time.
...creativity and innovation
the beauty of Beautiful Day is that creativity and innovation is always the starting point. What keeps service venues fresh is to look for creative ways to meet needs and bless others, which often includes changing things up and thinking outside the box. Brain-storming sessions that include the words "yes... and what if..." will move a group towards new and cool ideas of how to bless others. Sharing creative and innovative service venues with other churches breeds "new creativity" within their particular context.
... tailor made service venues
each church site has a particular context that is unique unto itself. Some churches are located in business districts, some are in suburbs and neighborhoods, while others are found in the inner city. Some churches may sit in an affluent area, while others are surrounded by low-income living. Such diversity opens the door for service venues that are tailor made for that particular context. Churches that replicate programs without reading the dials of their cultrural context and making specific "tweaks and changes" to meed that context miss the opportunity to address specific needs.
... excellence and the "WOW-factor"
any group can serve, any group can meed a need, any group can accomplish a task, But the result of such service is typically just simple appreciation. However, simple appreciation might be your indicator that you may have missed the excellence and "WOW-factor" mark. One of the biggest concepts of Beautiful Day is excellence and the "WOW-factor" ... to take a service venue and spend the time and due-diligence in working through details. This is a great opportunity to use your artists, specialist, and free-thinkers to allow them to put finishing touches on anything you do. Excellence and the "WOW-factor" helps the church to stand out above any group or agency that may offer the same service without the detail. Remember: Ice Cream is nice ... a Banana-Split Sunday is always better!
... room for relationships
relationships always matter. In most service venues there should always be room to talk and get to know others. Compassion is more than throwing money and time to those in need... it involves sharing our lives with people. Compassion allows others to see inside of you while you look deply inside of them. There are enough programs that offer assistance to the poor and underresourced in the community, but not enough that take the time to build a relationship that goes deeper. The concept of Beautiful Day calls for people to know others and to be known. Making room for relationships through Beautiful Day includes churches to the community, to other churches, local businesses, schools, organizations, media, and government.
... thought out planning
real impact requires fore-thought. To pull off a project with effectiveness for the community and your church involves planning ahead. Excellence , relationships, and creativity warrrants time and thought process to bring about real success. Conversely, over-planning can often kill a plan before it gets off the ground.
... flexibility
the best plans need to have room to flex and change. Sometimes service venues change with little notice or reason. Churches should always be prepared for changes and use the flexibility as an opportunity to do something even better.
